Mike Woods, CFP®

Mike Woods began his career in the financial services industry as a financial advisor with Carl H. Stocker & Associates, an investments and insurance firm in Denton, TX in 1997. In 2006, Carl and Mike formed the partnership Stocker Woods Financial. After serving for five years as the VP of the firm, he was promoted to President of Stocker Woods. In 2016 he bought out his business partner of 19 years and assumed the role of President & CEO of the firm, as well as lead wealth advisor. In 2021, Stocker Woods Financial merged with Athlon Advisors where Mike became a managing partner. As of December 2023 The Texas Athlon team split back off and rebranded to Principal Wealth Group where Mike is now the President and CEO again.

Mike has led Dave Ramsey’s nationally recognized Financial Peace University classes as he is a big fan of the Dave Ramsey program. Every year he works with families across the country to become debt-free, build wealth and supporting charities with philanthropic donations. Mike is one of Dave Ramsey’s SmartVestor Pros.

Mike has also served on the Denton Public School Foundation board of directors and the Denton Chamber board of directors. He has also assisted various community churches, advisory council groups for his national clearing firm, and is past chairman of the Adopt-A-School Advisory Council.

Mike served four years in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from the University of North Texas in 1998, and prior to his career as a financial advisor, Mike served four years in the United States Marine Corps. Mike is married to his wonderful wife, Dorothy, and they have two beautiful daughters: Megan and Rachel. The family worships and is actively involved at Cross Timbers Church. In his personal time, Mike can be found entertaining friends in or near the pool or on a lake or traveling and enjoying family time.
